L’invention du thé en sachet est liée à l’initiative d’un marchand de thé américain, Thomas Sullivan, qui prépara des échantillons de thé pour ses clients dans de petits sachets en soie. Ces derniers les plongèrent directement dans l’eau. Satisfaits du résultat ils redemandèrent du thé en sachets.
